I’ll stop reblogging this when it becomes irrelevant which will be never.

That this popped up on my dash, without irony, so soon after DC announced its slate of films, featuring films headlined by a woman, a Polynesian AND an African American, while Marvel has STILL not announced any release dates for films where the above are, if present, simply support for the straight, white, male headliner… amuses me.  :-)

One could argue it’s still relevant, just not in the way it was originally intended to be.
DC is represented by a person of color, trying their hardest and still not getting any credit as Marvel, the white guy, brags about their perceived superiority when they aren’t actually working themselves nearly as hard as the person they’re bragging towards.

I’m so sick of this bullshit. So fucking what? Congratulations DC! You are being diverse! Let’s praise DC for being diverse and start bashing marvel for not diversifying itself yet! Well guess what, the white guy is selling. Guess where Avengers ranks on highest grossing films? Number 3. Wanna know where Man of Steel ranks (the first movie in DCs cinematic universe)? Not even in the top 50. So yeah this is still relevant because Marvel is still dominating the box office. Idk who expects Marvel to deviate from their current strategy. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Acting like money is more important than representing people.
Son, you ought to change your name because you’re doing a piss poor job of representing what Steve Rogers as a character is all about.

Last Night in Ferguson (10.21.14): A state senator was arrested (and mama may have been legally packing), one of the lead organizers, nettaaaaaaaa, was roughed up by police, and one of the main sources of footage/live feeds, Rebel Z, was detained in what seems to have been an intimidation and straight up harassment tactic. The police are out of control, and it’s only getting worse. If you think this is over, you need to look again. #staywoke #farfromover

Ferguson is still happening. Are you still paying attention?

Tune into Z’s UStream tonight to watch developments live.

I met everyone in the Justice League except Henry Cavill and Ezra Miller. It was surreal. You get this idea of going to work on a Hollywood set as being really stressful and nerve-wracking. But it blew that stereotype away. If they did have stressful times, it wasn’t while I was there.

Ray Fisher on meeting his fellow Justice League members and Hollywood —

I didn’t know the extent to which DC and WB had planned on taking my character. When I signed on, I just wanted to be part of this world. But that specific information, I found out then and there. I didn’t think I’d be getting my own stand-alone film. I’m a long-game player and didn’t see any of this happening until at least my 40s. It’s a huge honor, but a bit of pressure comes along with it. My mind is just boggled right now.

Ray Fisher was just as surprised as you that Cyborg would be getting a solo film.   —

hakasims asked,

I want to be excited about Wonder Woman and Cyborg, but I'm actually depressed because it's the same people making decisions as on Man of Steel, and Zack Snyder will have his hands on WW at least three times. I'm also depressed that Marvel announced fucking Civil War instead of a Black Widow or a Black Panther movie. I'll definitely support the female-led and PoC-led movies from DC but how do I get excited? What do I do? How do I get hopeful again? Please help me

Sorry this ask has taken me so long. I have been really thinking on this ask. It’s really hard to get excited when you have been let down so much, I know. And the best answer I have is this: don’t think about the bad stuff, like MCU doing a bad job at female/poc rep (btw Civil War isn’t confirmed yet so hold on to that!) or Zack Snyder working on three WW-related movies. Think about how the WW, Cyborg, and Shazam movies haven’t had writers/directors announced yet, so we could get really good writers/directors. Think about how Stan Lee has said MCU is developing a Black Panther movie and how now that their main Superhero film rivals have slated comic movies with POC and Women as leads, the Disney/Marvel studios are going to start feeling the pressure to do the same. Also don’t forget they have a bunch of slotted movies they haven’t announced the titles of yet, so its possible they are planning a female-led or poc-led movie and haven’t announced it as yet. I know it is REALLY REALLY hard to stay positive and hopeful when we have been constantly fucked over by this community (especially by the studios and the publishers), but thinking positivelty is the only way I see to keep up my positivity and stay excited. It may not work for you (which is totally valid, we shouldn’t HAVE to stop thinking about the bad stuff like Zack Snyder being in charge of movies involving Wonder Woman), but I hope I kind of helped?

I don’t get it. I’m really really really frustrated. Like it’s one thing to not dig Man of Steel for whatever reason, but to send an ask to a tumblr named “comicbookmisogyny” bitching about the team behind Man of Steel, straight up the most purely feminist comic book movie I have ever seen, being in charge of Wonder Woman. This is not objectively bad news. I mean, they released the costume, which is beautiful, real, and respectful as fuck, I just- like what is the problem here? There are potential land mines everywhere, there would have been no matter who makes this movie, but there’s nothing as of yet to indicate that Zachary Snyder or anyone else associated with the project has conclusively stepped on one. So I guess I’m going to need some elaboration on the whole “I’m pissed because the MoS team is using Wonder Woman in THREE movies.”
